I am jacked about live blogging. To me, it feels like tweeting only on a larger scale. I'm going to a Challenger tennis tournament in Cincinatti next month and I hope to liveblog while I'm there. And that's just the first of many sporting events where I hope to bring all the action live.

We had a reporter liveblog testimony in an arson/murder trial (Yes, we got the judge's permission to bring the laptop into the courtroom and blog on the proceedings as they happened).
The liveblog itself was well done, if not a huge traffic magnet, but today I caught up with the reporter to get his thoughts on the whole thing, and he said something interesting.
He said the liveblogging went fine, but that he found it more difficult than usual to craft a story for the print edition when he returned to the newsroom. The liveblog served as a notes, of course, but the are not the same kind of notes he would have taken had he not been hammering text into the laptop for such an extended period. The blog posts lacked certain elements that the reporter said would have helped him produce a better story for print.
Sound familiar to anyone? Any lessons learned that could be shared?

I anchor the news and host a live chat room and twitter and have viewers posting to topical blogs during my half hour show. Makes for a very dynamic and engaging newscast!
