Hey everyone. I just joined wired journalist. I found out about it at the Southeast Journalism Conference. I am looking to network with others already in the business. I am a journalism student in Louisiana and will be graduating in a year. Does anyone have any advice for getting into the business and out of the south? Thanks

It's up to you to introduce yourself as the best candidate for the job. It's up to the employer to decide how quickly they need to fill it with the right candidate.
You might want to read through Joe Grimm's "Ask the Recruiter" column at Poynter Online.
Joe has launched a lot of young journalist careers. If you still have questions or need some pointers, send him a message. He's on this board. You can tell him I sent you. (See? Your first referral. ;) )
Hope that helps!
That said, figure out and rank your goals. List them in terms of what you want, rather than what you don't want.
Having a job hunting strategy will keep you focused and happier in the long run. :)
