I'm in charge of newsroom recruiting for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. In more than 35 years of newspaper work, I've been a reporter, city editor, copy desk chief, suburban editor and managing editor.
I started at The Commercial-News in Danville, Ill., and also worked at the Marietta (Ohio) Times and the North Hills New Record in suburban Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh is one of the few American cities with an old-fashioned newspaper war. The Trib is one of two independently owned dailies in the city. The Pittsburgh edition started in 1992 and has grown dramatically. Latest ABC circulation was 192,423 as of March 31, 2008.
