Wired Journalists

A Publish2 network

Hi everyone!

First of all, if I haven't had the chance to personally welcome you to WiredJournalists.com, welcome, and thank you for jumping in here with enthusiasm and excitement.

I've been completely blown away by the response to this site so far.

We're about to top 300 members, and it isn't just idlers and lurkers here, we're putting the brightest minds in online news together with journalists of all stripes who want to make a difference in their communities and their organizations.

I just started a group called Get Wired, Get Hired.

If you're a free agent looking for work, feel free to post links to your profile, your portfolio, your clips, and anything else you can think of in the group.

If you're in a hiring position, jump on in and see who you can find.

Feel free to post links to job boards and listings anywhere you find them.

Thank you!

I like the idea of letting things grow organically, but I'd also like to ask that group creators use their widget box area to add some static links to basic tutorials (if applicable).

While it's great that people here are blogging and talking to each other about a great variety of things, I'd also like to give the lurkers opportunity to easily find content and read/learn at their own pace, lest the conversastions turn too technical, the relevant stuff gets buried or whatever.

Agreed - let the tidal pools toss their DNA to the shore and then let Darwin's law decide later on. Taxonomy could be the cure after that shakeout period.

Interesting idea, Robb -- I think we should let it run organically for at least a week or so before we start pruning, but I'm game for some consolidation as things shake out.

Yep. It's a great phenom when a new online community is birthed. So many of the bright lights here have solo blogs but no forums or group engagement - this is a good gathering place.

I wonder if you might be having too many hyper niche groups being formed (That was something we faced in the Visual Editors community - a couple dozen forums and people got overwhelmed) We redesigned and went minimal and our traffic and user satisfaction blossomed.
