We twitter live Mason basketball plays and scores. Users can subscribe ... still working out the mobile subscription details but I've seen it done before!
I put our paper's local news and update rss feeds through Twitter and it's been well-received by the community who appreciate having a new and convenient way to get their local news updates. I thought Twitter would just be fun and yeah, kind of useless when I first started doing it myself, but I've learned it's quite the powerful little bugger. - http://twitter.com/theindependent
Last night, I went to reportwitters, but didn't have time to explore it. It looks like a great place to learn more about using Twitter in the journalism. I hope to look at that soon!
Thanks for the comments. I followed the Sarah Lacy/SXSW presentation fiasco in real-time from Chicago via Twitter. Also, wrote about the China earthquake and twitter because it broke on Twitter and the USGS site, not on MSM.

I've definitely gleaned story and graphic ideas from Twitter posts. And picked up on news, usually not from the newspaper/tv users.
