One of the things I wish news sources would do more often is explain how a difficult name is pronounced. Case in point: The Seattle Mariners hired a new general manager today named Jack Zduriencik — anyone have a guess where to start with this one?

Fortunately, The Seattle Times spelled it out:

Zduriencik (pronounced zur-EN-sik) will be introduced at a news conference on Friday, an off-day in the World Series.

Now I don't have to call all my friends and say, "Hey, did you hear?! The M's hired Jack Zuh...der-een...chick...?"

What would be even better, though, is if there was a Web tool that could play an audio recording of the name in question, kind of like Merriam-Webster's word pronunciation tool. Anybody know of one?

(Now, back to watching teams other than mine compete for a World Series title.)

Hey, thanks for the link. Liked the site enough to tag it on Delicious, Digg it and post it to my company's social network.

Any chance I could send you an audio recording of "Balcerak"?
