You bet it will Paul. I'm glad they're confident and they do their thing despite all else. They have a real model.

Great two-part interview. I've run into Tracy and her husband, Patrick, a few times at some Seattle-area meet ups and I'm always impressed by the amount of work they do (the 24/7 coverage and the ad sales). Unfortunately they don't always get much respect from the mainstream media elites in town, but I have a feeling that'll change with the ever-changing journalism landscape.

I did a two-part Q&A with Tracy on my blog, Online Community Strategist. Links below:
Building community around neighborhood news: An interview with tracy Record of West Seattle Blog (part 1 of 2)

Monetizing neighborhood news: More from Tracy Record of West Seattle Blog (Part 2 of 2)

I'm a fan.

They're certainly one of the success stories. Tracy Record actually left her job at one of the local TV news stations to work full-time on the blog. She makes a living off of it now.

I'm biased because I live there, but the Capitol Hill Seattle blog is pretty good, too.

I've heard somewhere that the West Seattle blog is one of the best maintained ones Seattle has. I'll have to check that out.
