Wired Journalists

Get wired to win.

I knew this was coming.

A senior in high school, who happens to be related to me, thinks she's going to pull off a video movie by tomorrow for a senior project.

Yeah, tomorrow.

She's using IMovie so far.

She turned the camera sideways while shooting (Canon Powershot SD550 -- small clips, we're talking real low-tech here).

She can't find a rotation tool in IMovie. I can't find a free one on a Google quick search.

Do I just go get Soundslides right now, and is it simple enough for me to help her pull this off by say 1 or 2 a.m.?

Or is there a simpler, free solution?

(And please don't laugh too loudly.)

Or maybe the answer is just Quicktime Pro for about $30?
Imovie version is 5.0.2 (yeah, upgrade coming some day).

Quicktime Pro it is.

Your senior must be a budding reporter, living by the adage: why do now what can be put off until tomorrow.

A question, is Quicktime Pro for movies, while Soundslides is for photos?
How'd the project turn out?

Yes, now I know Quicktime Pro is for movies, and Soundslides is for photo slideshows (can do music with them as well, I think).

I managed to help with the rotation, and then found a slick trick for avoiding distortion at O'Reilly, from David Battino.

And now I'm giving up. I work days. Teenage vampire ninja turtles can stay up and finish the project. I've vetoed background music, so maybe it'll get done before dawn. Will try to post it later -- raw content looks very cool. Teens talking about U.S. energy consumption, particularly oil.
