An internship for FOX News in NYC revealed my undiscovered passion for producing. I loved finding and pitching ideas, asking questions and turning that idea into a story for air. It was such an adrenaline rush for me!
After my internship in 2005 I began a production assistant job at KWTX in Waco, Texas.
I moved back to my home state of Kansas after graduating from Baylor University in 2006 and began producing the 5p.m. and weekend evening newscasts at WIBW in Topeka. I believe my experience in production helped me to really envision the newcast as a whole and to realize what my co-workers need from me to effectively do their best work.
My next step is to use that experience in production and as a producer to be a great reporter/anchor using that comprehensive knowledge and continuing to set our newscasts above and beyond our competitors'!
The greatest goal, for me, is to use my position to help and inform people at home who trust that we're telling them the most accurate, up-to-date information available.
When I'm not at working I'm attempting to train for a 10K and eventual half-marathon. It's testing my discipline! But my mom is training with me so I've got a great support system. :) I also just moved from an apartment to a house and find myself wanting to be very domestic! First major project: gardens in the front and backyards.
Hey - sorry about my Screenwriter snafu last night! But we're learning - and I put a blog on my page looking for ideas on how we can use it - oh yeah, and be more efficient with it, too :o)
