About Me:
I'm a freelance reporter and web editor. I've worked mostly in business-to-business publishing. I started doing web stuff in 1996 when the company I was working for at the time (Reed Business Information) began launching web sites for its magazines. I went freelance in 2001.

Sorry so late in getting back; was reminded to do so after seeing a post from you on Web 2.0 on the ASBPE site (I just renewed my membership with them).

As a freelancer, I'm curious if you stick with B2B trade clients? And, yes, I recall Cathy Hodson from back in the late '90s when I started freelancing for PE. I primarily worked with then-editor John Krukowski, writing a regular column, newsletter copy, advertorials and the like.

Hi, Martha -- thanks for your reply. Let's see; where have I written. Beyond the newspapers and other consumer press, I went on to PR serving as the senior writer/project manager for a mid-size agency in Chicago. Did that for years. Too many clients and mediums to list. In B2B/trade, however, I've placed ghostwritten and bylined pieces in many of the industrial/manufacturing mags. For about seven years I wrote for Pollution Engineering as a contributor and regular columnist, and was editor of a national magazine on quality until I returned, once again, to independent work primarily for B2B/trade clients.

What about you? It looks like we do much the same thing, which is why your personal page caught my eye! :) As a new member, I plan to follow the groups that address our particular challenges in B2B/trade writing/editing. I'm especially drawn to discussions on the challenges of multimedia.

I am very interested in how B2B fits in at Wired Journalists as it evolves.

I come initially from newspaper reporting but wound up -- after a skip, hop and a substantial jump -- on the trade (B2B) side (as columnist, contributer, editor). It's rewarding work.

Like you, Martha, I work independently these days. I'm so happy to see that you're a member here. I'll look for you in the various groups. -- RH

I joined about every possible group that could apply to me. But there are probably a whole bunch more that have sprung up since I did that.

Thanks for the invite, Martha. These social networking sites are really taking off. I'll be sure to invite my board.
