Just a thought. I'd love to hear what else you're doing!
There are quite a few things we try to do to grow -- and maintain and prolong and engage -- the audience for our site. What, in particular, are you looking for?
In addition to everything that we do online, we're always looking for ways to integrate what's in the paper with what's on the website. That sometimes looks like print refers, or sidebars, or logos from specific sections of our site -- things that might drive folks from the print paper to the website. We've also got a new section on A-2 that's basically a giant refer to the website.
Other than that, there's a little marketing involved, but most of our audience-building and -maintaining, I think has to do with our approach to telling stories online -- engaging folks, giving them tools, helping them enter a story in a new way, etc. ...
Does that help? It's kinda long and circuitous. But let me know if you need me to clarify... What sort of audience are you trying to reach?
Our videos usually complement stories in our paper, so we'll place a refer with the MySA logo and tell people something like "visit Keyword: Multimedia for a video of the event."
Sometimes we enterprise our videos, so we'll get framegrabs and publish them in the paper like wild art with a similar refer in the caption area.
What do ya'll do?
