A look at web-native coverage of the news

Go read Scott Karp's post on coverage of the Bear Stearns story. It's an interesting case study in the differences of how journalism works in a web-native world vs. a print world. Of particular interest is the difference in coverage of NYTimes.com (not so interesting) vs. a NYT blog (very interesting). I'll say it again: If you want to grasp web journalism, you need to get blogs… Continue

Domain now properly working as wiredjournalists.com

Mainly because of my own lameness at following through, we haven't had the domain wiredjournalists.com working for this site as originally intended. After the appropriate exchange of e-mails with the hosting company where I parked the domain, wiredjournalists.com is now working as the domain for this site. Unique job opportunity with GateHouse Media

Here is a chance to do something completely different. GateHouse Media is looking for two ambitious, entrepreneurial individuals to help us reinvent local journalism. Social networking is a sprint that doesn't end

Steve Buttry of API is making a serious effort at getting more wired.

He write about exploring social networks here.
<blockquote>
The thing I can say most certainly after a few months of serious social networking is that I know enough about it to know that I really don't know much. The cliché of political campaigns (especially for the early losers) is that a campaign… Continue

Staying on topic

The purpose of Wired Journalists is for journalists to learn about being online, both as participants and as leaders.

To some, it might just seem like the web is this big cacophony of "anything goes" contributions. And along with that comes an attitude of, "I can do whatever I want."

We see that attitude and behavior all the time on newspaper sites that have open forums or open comment threads on stories or blogs.

The Internet as a realm of participation and open commu… Continue

The information gaps aren't intentional, Howard. I just haven't had time recently to fill them in...
